Asbestos removal & demolition - redundant catalytic cracking unit, Shell Corio refinery, Geelong, Victoria

Lifting a 40 tonne section of the 60 meter high concrete chimney stack. This stack was 3 meters from live plant.
This 1.2 meter diameter stainless steel pipe has been cut from the catalytic cracker using high pressure water and garnet injection.
Heavy concrete demolition using specialist 100 tonne demolition machinery.
An induced controlled structural failure of a section of heavy reinforced concrete structure. The sections weighed approximately 400 tonnes each.

This 120 tonne plus section of refractory lined vessel was cut around the circumfrence and separated from the base at a height of approximately 30 meters using high pressure water and garnet injection. The section was lowered to the ground using a 4100 Manitowoc and ringer attachment.
