Dartmouth Dam Power Station - Project No: 91083

Demolish damaged turbine foundation (1700cm) & spiral turbine casing - Dartmouth Dam power station, Dartmouth, Victoria

Final demolition of the 2000 tonne foundation. This foundation was four storeys below ground level, two storeys below river level and 180 meters below the high water level of the dam.
This four meter diameter spiral casing inset is being lifted up three storeys to ground floor level by a 100 tonne gantry crane. This same crane was used to lower the two (in number) 30 tonne excavators in and out of the works area
Cutting 50mm to 150mm thick concrete encased Bisalloy spiral casing. Able removed approximately 2000 tonnes of reinforced concrete plus approximately 150 tonnes of Bisalloy spiral casing from within the concrete.
After removing 1200 tonnes of concrete from above the damaged hydro-turbine spiral casing, two (in number) 30 tonne excavators are used to prise a small section of the casing free from the concrete below.
